THIS WEEK IS FELLOWSHIP SUNDAY IN THE UNDERCROFT, 11:30 A.M.: Our Cathedral RCIA candidates and sponsors will serve refreshments next Sunday between the 10:30 a.m. and the 12:30 p.m. Masses in the Undercroft (use elevator at the back of the church by the Reconciliation Room). All new Parishioners are cordially invited to attend and meet other parishioners, Priests, Deacons, Liturgical Ministers, Pastoral Council Members and visitors. All are encouraged to come enjoy the refreshments, fellowship, and meet our RCIA candidates and sponsors. NEXT SUNDAY AT 11:30 A.M. there will be a Special Fellowship Sunday to meet our brothers and sisters in Christ from Holy Cross Church who will be joining the Cathedral Community for the next several weeks while the Church undergoes a major interior renovation. Please join us then as well!

FOLLOWING MASSES THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5, HOLY CROSS CHURCH WILL TEMPORARILY CLOSE as our parish begins an extensive interior church renovation. This project in the first Catholic Church in Columbus includes replacement of all flooring in the nave of the church, refurbishing of pews, replacement of wainscoting, installation of LED lighting, and some other painting, carpeting and touch-ups. The project is expected to take approximately six-plus weeks. During this time all liturgies and in-Church events are suspended; daily and Sunday Masses will be at the Cathedral. Please watch the bulletin carefully for any modifications in schedules and meeting locations to accommodate the joint needs of Holy Cross and Cathedral parishioners, and welcome our fellow cluster parishioners to the Cathedral.

PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION ~ CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD ~ BEGINS THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5: A reminder that our joint Parish School of Religion with Holy Cross Church begins on October 5 at 9:00 a.m. for Grades 1-8, and at 9:00 a.m. on October 26 for children ages 3-Kindergarten. For more information and registration please contact Deborah Matthews, Coordinator of Religious Education, at, or via phone at (614) 861-1746. Given the timing of the Holy Cross Church interior renovation (and associated construction dust, construction debris, safety issues and the like) and the beginning of PSR, it was decided that for this year PSR classes will take place at the Cathedral so that our children can have an uninterrupted environment conducive to learning about our Catholic faith.

CATHEDRAL CHOIR ~ THE OFFICE OF COMPLINE ~ SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5: The first Sunday of the month, the men of the Cathedral Choir chant the Office of Compline. The Office lasts about 30 minutes and consists of psalms, short passages from scripture, an office hymn, a canticle (Nunc Dimittis), a responsory, collect and additional prayers. In keeping with the earliest practices of the monastic communities, Compline is offered when the work of the day is completed, and the quietness of evening settles over the hearts and minds of those who have come together in thankfulness for the blessings of the day which has passed and in anticipation of God’s gift of a new day. The Office begins at 9:00 p.m. on the First Sunday of the month. We hope you will join us for this unique spiritual experience.

FAMILY ROSARY DAY OCTOBER 12: The Diocese of Columbus’ annual Family Rosary Day is 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12, at Saint Joseph Cathedral. Bishop Frederick F. Campbell will preside at this event of prayer and devotion to Our Lady. All are welcome.
