Annual “Breakfast with the Bishop”

On Oct. 3rd at the Hyatt Regency. Please join us and The Most Reverend Frederick F. Campbell, D.D., Ph.D. in fellowship as we reflect on the impact of poverty in central Ohio. This year’s theme, “Building Bridges Out of Poverty,” will highlight the complex nature of poverty as well as Catholic Social Services’ efforts to help those in need throughout the diocese. We are pleased to welcome our guest speaker, Jodi Pfarr, who will offer insights about the “Bridges Out of Poverty” model for reducing poverty. New to our event this year is a group training after the breakfast. Jodi Pfarr, Certified Trainer, will lead the training in the “Bridges Out of Poverty” model for community leaders and individuals from 10-3 on Oct. 3rd at the Bryce Eck Activity Center. Bishop Campbell will host the annual Marian Dinner at 6:00 p.m., October 8 at St. Andrew Church’s Bryce Eck Activity Center, 3880 Reed Road, Columbus. Women, especially those in high school, will join together with their pastors, members of religious communities, and other people of the Diocese for prayer, a meal hosted by the Bishop, and an opportunity to hear from him as well as a member of a religious community about vocations to religious life. Father Robert Barron Lecture at Josephinum

The Pontifical College Josephinum’s annual lecture series continues Thursday, October 9, with a presentation by Father Robert Barron, Rector/President of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. A widely published writer, Father Barron has authored numerous books, including Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith. Father Barron is also creator and host of “Catholicism,” a ten-part documentary on the Catholic faith, and he is the founder and chairman of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, a media group dedicated to the new evangelization. Father Barron will present “The Liturgical Self: An Exploration of Christian Anthropology in Light of the Liturgy” at 7:00 pm in the Jessing Center on the Josephinum campus. Fall Tour Day at the Josephinum

Seminarians of the Pontifical College Josephinum will offer tours of the seminary on Sat., Oct. 11 from 10 am – 3 pm. Admission and parking are free. Tours will begin every half hour and last approximately 45 minutes, followed by refreshments. Reservations encouraged but not required. Join Catholic Social Services on Service Saturday, October 11 to help older and disabled Franklin County residents in need of help with a small home repair, painting, yard work or special project. Third Annual Sacred Heart Congress

The third Annual Sacred Heart Congress will be held on Saturday, October 11, St. Joan of Arc Church, Powell, 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Keynote Speaker is Fr. Michael Gaitley, National Speaker on Divine Mercy and author of Consoling the Heart of Jesus, 33 Days to Morning Glory and more; Speaker Fr. Stash Dailey, the Spiritual Director of Sacred Heart Columbus & Administrator of Holy Family Parish; and the Mass Celebrant will be Fr. James Black, Pastor of St. Joan of Arc. The Bishop Ready Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Program Youth Basketball Skills Camp

The Bishop Ready Boys’ and Girl’s Basketball Program is sponsoring a youth basketball skills camp for boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 on Thursdays, Oct. 9, 16, and 23, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at the high school. Cost is $15 per player and includes a t-shirt. The camp will be run by Ready coaches Joe Lang and Dan DeCrane and instructors will include former Ready players and coaches.
