Andrew Wisniewski’s father is the cathedral’s Principal Organist and Assistant Director of Music and his mother is a long-time member of the cathedral choir. He joined the Cathedral Liturgical Ministry as an Altar Server in 2013 and soon after began to hear God’s calling. He began his studies at Pontifical College Josephinum in August, 2015 and hopes to be ordained as a priest in 2021. In reflecting on his pathway to the priesthood, Andrew says, “Keep your heart and mind open to the still voice of Christ. This is best achieved through regular prayer and adoration. Returning to adoration and developing a love of the sacraments, especially the Eucharist and confession, were vital to my discerning entering the seminary”.

Chris Yakkel is a member of Saint Joseph Cathedral Parish and since his entry into Pontifical College Josephinum, he has been the cathedral’s Adopted Seminarian. As such we have enjoyed seeing him frequently at various liturgies celebrated here. He joined the seminary in August ,2013, and hopes to be ordained as a priest in the summer of 2019. Chris says that his relationship with God has grown to amazingly great depths since he answered His calling and he looks forward to this relationship becoming even greater through the years. Also, “I’m very grateful for those who have prayed for me both before and after my discernment”.

The Vocations Committee prays for vocations of Priests and religious from our parish and for the Holy Catholic church throughout the world. Through well planned programs, prayer, discussion, and the encouragement of young people, parishioners can make the whole community more “vocation conscious.” The committee meets at 9:00 a.m. on the 3rd Sunday of the month, in the Reconciliation Chapel. Contact Barbara Garick at (614) 877-0168 or
